BOCES Graduates

Welcome to your future!

Welcome to CNYLearns, a service of the Literacy Coalition of Onondaga County. Here you will find adult literacy resources for those who live in Onondaga County and the City of Syracuse. If you’re looking for programs and agencies to help you or someone you know, you can search our list of partners or view a complete list.

If you’re unsure which agency or program is right for you, please contact our partners at Central New York 211 and talk to a representative, or contact us.

In collaboration with the Syracuse Post-Standard and InterFaith Works, the following “Daily Inspiration” was one of a series of essays written by adult learners from a range of local programs that was published.

I attend a BOCES literacy class, working toward my high school equivalency diploma. After graduation from a high school with an Individualized Education Plan Diploma, I worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital. I wanted new opportunities, but realized I couldn’t without a Regents High School Diploma. My dream is to work in a job in which I analyze sports. A major part of this job requires math skills because a large percentage of debates involve numbers and how they contribute to a team’s success. I have a long road ahead, but it will be worth the struggle when I start my career. This is what inspires me!”
James Bush grew up in Pennellville, NY, and played High School basketball and baseball. His favorite teams are the Houston Rockets and Green Bay Packers. Working for either team is his dream.
