University College-Part Time Study

University College is the gateway to Syracuse University. For part-time matriculated students whose goal is to pursue a degree or earn a certificate or credential from any of SU’s schools and colleges, for nonmatriculated students interested in continuing education for professional development, and for visiting students who want to take a class and transfer the earned credits to their home institution. University College offers a variety of degree programs, certificates, and noncredit courses in the daytime, evenings, online, and in condensed and accelerated formats.

HEOP of University College

The Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) provides access to independent colleges and universities for economically and educationally disadvantaged students from New York State. The program provides academic support, tutoring assistance, and financial assistance for tuition, books, and parking. Economic eligibility is based on state-mandated low-income guidelines. Academic criteria is determined by University College of Syracuse University.

TEDCenter of University College

The TEDCenter provides a wide breadth of literacy and skill building programs to prepare individuals to go to college, build foundational skills to prepare for and advance their career, attain certification, and develop skills employers are seeking. Foundational skill building programs are available online 24/7 with options for employers and community based organizations to enhance the skills of their stakeholders.

Learning Disabilities Association of Central New York (LDACNY)

LDACNY is an affiliate of the Learning Disabilities Association of New York State and is the only statewide association in New York that specifically represents the needs and interests of children and adults with learning disabilities, their families and professionals who support them.

Learning Disabilities Association of America’s mission is to create opportunities for success for all individuals affected by learning disabilities and to reduce the incidence of learning disabilities in future generations. LDAA is the leading advocate nationally for laws and policies that create opportunities for people with learning disabilities. LDAA frequently joins with other organizations to work on important legislative issues, such as the individuals with Disabilities Education Act and the No Child Left Behind Act.

The Division of Immigrant Policies and Affairs (DIPA) works inside and outside the Department of Labor (NYSDOL) to serve the needs of immigrants. We make sure that the protections, services, and programs of the NYSDOL are available to everyone, including people with limited English proficiency.

Onondaga Community College (OCC) Study Skills Center

Onondaga Community College is a college of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and one of 30 locally sponsored community colleges throughout New York State. Onondaga County is our sponsor.

We offer two-year degree programs that serve as transfer opportunities to baccalaureate degree programs at four-year campuses or for direct entry to the workforce. We also offer certificate programs that can generally be completed in one year. Through Onondaga’s regional higher education center, students can earn a bachelor’s degree on the Onondaga campus through innovative partnerships with SUNY Empire State College, SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Delhi, Kaplan University and Keuka College. The Onondaga County Public Library’s Adult Literacy Program offers a variety of materials and services in support of our mission to assist our adult learners in becoming “information literate,” and to help them on a path to lifelong learning. Information literacy includes:

  • traditional literacy (reading and writing)
  • media literacy (using videos and audiotapes for information)
  • computer literacy (using literacy software and other basic applications)
  • network literacy (using OCPL’s online catalog, serials database and the Internet)
