The Learning Place provides one-on-one and/or small group tutoring for out of school teenagers ages 16 and older and adults who are referred to the program. Provides reading skills at any reading level, tutoring in math for college entrance, group TABE, and HSE preparation, money-management classes, job resume assistance, basic computer skills, and English as a Second Language. The Onondaga County Public Library's Adult Literacy Program offers a variety of materials and services in support of our mission to assist our adult learners in becoming "information literate," and to help them on a path to lifelong learning. Information literacy includes traditional literacy (reading and writing), media literacy (using videos and audiotapes for information), computer literacy (using literacy software and other basic applications), network literacy (using OCPL's online catalog, serials database and the Internet). The State University of New York ATTAIN Lab is a community-based education center that offers computer-based training in a variety of topics including GED preparation. Participants have access to Aztec, an online GED preparation platform that can be used anywhere – independently at home, in a classroom, or in any other instructional setting. The program provides flexibility to students who might not be able to attend regularly scheduled classes, and ATTAIN Lab staff provide academic and motivational support to help students achieve their goals!

The programs in the SCSD Adult Education program are designed to assist you in the development of your skills and knowledge for today’s workplace. The High School Equivalency (HSE) Program is available on a full or part time basis to accommodate your busy schedule. Syracuse EOC’s High School Equivalency (HSE) program is a comprehensive course of study designed to provide students with the depth of knowledge and skills needed to take the NYS TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion).  Instructional areas include English Language Arts Reading, English Language Arts Writing, Social Studies, Science and Mathematics.  Students also develop essential critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Our High School Equivalency Classes provide the opportunity for community members to improve their basic academic skills through focused skill-building courses in the core subject areas. This program will meet you where you are in your educational goals, and it will focus on the skills needed to succeed on your GED exam and earn your high school equivalency diploma. Extra tutoring support will be provided to ensure your success!

Classes take place Tuesdays and Thursdays 5-8pm in the upstairs activity room at Westcott CC.
